Another Weekend in the Books.

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend! Another one has come and gone too soon. I want to give a special "Hello" to all my new followers out there! Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy. :)

Friday night we had a double header in kickball. We came out with the split, but none the less... it was fun. My friends brought my god babies out to the game to see me, and that put the biggest smile on my face! I was so happy they came out! After the game I went to the bar that sponsors the league, so our team could eat our free pizza. About 11pm, I decided to leave. Walked out to the car and clicked the unlock button on my clicker, then realized... it's dead. Whenever I go in the bar, I only take my clicker because it's more convenient. I knew the clicker was dead when I took it off my key ring, but I completely forgot at the time. So at 11pm I had to call my Dad to come pick me up from the bar and take me to Walmart to get a battery. How embarrassing. Maybe the story would have been more funny if I was drunk, but I'm was completely sober. Luckily after 30 minutes or so, we FINALLY found the one and only battery they had left for my clicker! They had tons of other ones, but there was only one with my number on it! Luckily I didn't have to call AAA!

We don't know how to take a serious picture!

Saturday I woke up early and headed out to my Aunt's yard sale. Helped them out a little bit, then went to an auction with my Dad and Beth. I've been to auctions, I know how they work. My sister on the other hand has never been to one. Let's just say, SHE LOVED IT! We came home with literally a truck full of stuff and only spent $48. That's with taxes and fees included. I'd say we did a great job, and she is hooked. The next auction they are having is while we are on vacation. Looks like we are heading back early to be able to make the auction. It's a family affair! :)

The rest of the weekend was filled with Estate Sales, Doumars, getting my car fixed, skinny dip with the dogs, and studying! I hope you all had great weekends. And I hope this week goes smoothly for everyone!!

Doumar's with the family! :)

Went to visit Jonas' brother!
Beth's birthday weekend!
Momma and her girls!

And Back to School I Go

Hey everyone! Hope your week is going splendid! I know my week has been consumed with deciding to get back into school. I knew it wasn't going to be easy, but I thought the hard times wouldn't start until the semester actually began...boy was I wrong.

Maybe I'm just behind on the times, but I didn't remember it being this hard the first time around. I didn't know that to change your major you had to completely change things in the school's system. Luckily, I've had an amazing counselor who has been helping me. And the beauty of it, I haven't had to step foot into the school, yet. TCC has this great thing called e-advising. I didn't want to have to take off of work to go sit at the campus all day, so this let's me work and get back into school at the same time.

I started going to college right after I got out of high school, however I kept changing my major... so I decided to take a break, evaluate my life, and figure out what I really wanted to do. So here I am 6 years after high school, ready to crack down and finally finish my degree. However, I didn't realize that I had completely lost all my math skills. I have to take the Math Placement Test, so I decided to download a practice test. Seriously!? I have forgotten everything! So this weekend I will be reteaching myself everything I need to know! How exciting right!?! The important thing is that I'm finally going to get serious about my education. It will all be worth it in the end!

So while you are out enjoying the nice sunshine, I'll be studying! Once this is out of the way, I can focus on being excited to see a certain someone next weekend! All I have to say is the month of August will be spectacular! :)

The hockey planning has commenced.

Hello Everyone and Happy Tuesday. I hope everyone's weekend went really well!

All of the NHL Hockey schedules were released Friday, and for me it began a frenzy. I was taking a look at all the teams I liked and started figuring out games that I wanted to go see! If you haven't figured out by now, I'm a huge hockey fanatic. My #1 goal is to make it to Anaheim to see a game in the near future. Whether that will happen or not, who knows. It's always good to have goals, right?

Here are the games in which I'd love to be able to make it to:

Sunday, October 6, 2013 - Carolina Hurricanes vs Philadelphia Flyers

Sunday, October 13, 2013 - Anaheim Ducks vs Ottawa Senators

Friday, November 15, 2013 - Carolina Hurricanes vs Anaheim Ducks

Monday, December 23, 2013 - Washington Capitals vs Anaheim Ducks

Saturday, January 25, 2014 - Philadelphia Flyers vs Boston Bruins

Sunday, March 2, 2014 - Washington Capitals vs Philadelphia Flyers

Now I definitely will not make it to all of these games! But if I at least make it to 2 of the 6, I'll be extremely happy. :)

While I'm on the lines of talking about hockey, I'd like to wish Mr. Shawn Thornton a very happy 36th birthday. You're getting old poptart! But I still love you! :)

Quite a few years younger, but Shawners none the less!

Hope you all have a fantastic day and thanks for reading my blog!

It's A Dog's Life!!!

Hey there everyone! && Happy Friday!
I hope you all have quite the wonderful weekend planned out!
Tonight starts the summer season for SchweatyBallz kickball.
I'm super excited, mainly because I do not have to coach.
I can just go out there with no stress and have a blast with everyone else.

Today I decided to do a post on something I absolutely love more than anything in this whole wide world. I even love it more than hockey, and that's just unheard of! I'm talking about that spoiled pooch of my Jonas. Yes, I know I'm a crazy dog lady but I can't help it! I'm not married, I don't have kids, and I pretty much don't have much of a life... so Jonas is my life. I swear sometimes he doesn't know he is a dog though. And I take 120% of the blame for that. He literally is my child.

Baby Jonas in the Red! :)
I still remember getting him 5 years ago next month. It was right after I got back from my family vacation! My roommate at the time, had a sister who had puppies and we got one. I still remember the first night we had him, we slept in the living room on our couch with him. We put him in a tub so he wouldn't run around and mess up. Unfortunately all he did was whine and cry, so there was no sleep that night. Instantly, he stole my heart. Jonas is a Rat/Shih/Westie/Poo! :) Or you can call him a marvelous mutt! He wears clothes, gets his pictures professionally done, and has his own instagram!

You heard me correctly...he has an instagram!

Like any parent, I take way too many pictures of my dog...and he was clogging up my instagram, so I decided to make him his own. You would be surprised as to how many dogs actually have their own accounts...so I'm not the only crazy one! :)

You should definitely check him out, his tag is @jonasthepooch. Now I'm going to leave you a photo dump of my lovely furbaby! Hope you enjoy!

Time to snap back to reality!

Happy Friday Everyone!
Glad to see we all made it through the work week as painlessly as possible.

Yesterday was one of the best days I've had in a very long time! Even all the rain couldn't put a damper on my day! Went to work for a few hours to get some office work done and to do a couple errands. Hey getting two hours is better than getting none right? My Mom wasn't so sure she wanted to go to our first stop, seeing as how she didn't know anything about the guy singing. Luckily I talked her into it.

The events of the day started out at Smoked Out in Virginia Beach for a private show by Michael Franti. They also provided a free lunch for us as well. First off, the food was amazing and you should definitely check it out. The show they played was absolutely amazing. They definitely know how to work the crowd and get everyone on their feet. Mom was even getting into it. They did pictures afterwards, and this is where  you saw how awesome they were. Taking all kinds of pictures with everyone! This was our picture with them!!!

Michael Franti doesn't wear shoes, so we decided to be like him for the picture. :)

After all the excitement at Smoked Out, it was time to head over to the radio station to see Gavin DeGraw. If you know me at all, you know he is one of my absolute favorite artists. My Mom and I see him every time he comes into town, and on some occasions we travel to see him! He played two songs for us at the radio station including his new single, "Best I Ever Had". As always it was amazing. I tend to prefer him doing acoustic over a big show like last night. So I got the best of both worlds yesterday! Can't wait for his next album to come out! Here is my picture with Gavin DeGraw....

To end the amazing day, it was time for the actual concert. Mom and I got our rain coats and umbrellas ready and headed out for Farm Bureau Live! I was suppose to go to another meet n greet with Gavin at the concert, but it didn't happen. Thanks to people who don't know how to drive in the rain, I was late. At least I got to see him earlier in the day right? During Franti's performance he came out in the crowd several times. Luckily he was over by me at one point and came and danced. :) Then after his show he came by and signed the pictures we had taken earlier. Train was phenomenal as always. All I can say about the concert.... It was amazing!

Here's a bit of a photo dump for you from last night! Enjoy!!

I have more pictures from the concert... But I haven't gone through them. Maybe I'll upload those in another post! Anyways I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!! :)

Hump Day!

Well hello there everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying their hump day! I know I'm ready for the work day to be over. Tonight I get to go to dinner with some of my ladies and I'm excited. I've been a little under the weather for almost the past week, so I haven't been doing much of anything other than laying down, taking meds, and relaxing. I'm finally starting to get back to normal, but not quite there yet. So it will be nice to get out of the house and spend some time with friends.

Before I go to dinner though, I'm going to treat myself to a nice ole pedicure! And man do I need one badly, I haven't gotten one since before my cruise. I decided since I'll be seeing Gavin DeGraw tomorrow, I need to try to look good. :) I can't wait for tomorrow, it's going to be a blast! I'm suppose to go to see Michael Franti at Noon at Smoked Out for a private performance. Then after that, I'm going to a private performance with Gavin DeGraw. How awesome right? That night I will be going to the Train/Gavin DeGraw/Michael Franti show at Farm Bureau live where I will get to go backstage and see Gavin as well. If any of you know me... you'd know that I absolutely love him! ha. I will definitely be posting pictures of that.

Our summer kickball season begins this Friday! Which is exciting... because I'm not coaching! I finally just get to go out there and have a good time. Only problem is, I doubt I'll play this week. I want to make sure I'm 120% better before I go and make my self worse!

I hope everyone has a fantastic week!!

Happy Independence Day!!!

Hello to all my readers! First off I want to say to all my Canadian followers, I hope you all had a fantastic Canada Day on Monday! I'm a big lover of Canada, so I have to show them some support. Now it's our turn to celebrate our country here in the USofA.

Tomorrow marks the 237th birthday of America!! I hope everyone has some amazing plans for the holiday! I know some of us are lucky enough to get a 4 day weekend... and to those people... I'm jealous. I do get to have off tomorrow, but have to come back to work on Friday. Gotta make the money though right?  Do any of you have any plans for the holidays? I want to hear all about them!

As scheduled right now, these are my plans... though they will probably change!

Tomorrow will be spent at Lakeside Park in South Norfolk for Chesapeake's annual event. There is a parade then a big to do with vendors, paddle boats, pony rides, musics, and other festivities. It's definitely a fun event and a tradition for my family. If you have children you can also go and get there Child ID's for free. South Norfolk Lodge will be up there providing this service for free. It's a good thing to have for if your child is ever lost or taken away. The remainder of the day will be spent with two of my awesome friends and my god babies.

Friday, I have to work of course. That night, however, I will be hitting up Langley Speedway for some racing action! It's always a great night at the track with some awesome friends! They are even having fireworks after the race, what could be better!

Saturday is beach and cookout time! I am in definite need of some sun. I feel too white for it to be the beginning of July and I'm still not golden brown like usual! I'm also definitely ready for some guys vs girls pool volleyball time with the family. It will be the first time that the family has gotten together this summer. Don't worry though, the girls will definitely be pulling out the win in volleyball!

Friends, Beer, Parades, Cook outs, Pool Time, Family, Racing, and 'Merica... what more could you need!?!

NHL Draft Day

Hello everyone and Happy Monday!
For all my Virginia readers... no more texting and driving. Though it was illegal before, it is now a primary offense. If you get caught in the act you will get a $125 fine the first go around and a $250 fine the second time you're caught. I'm sorry, but no text is worth $125 when you can wait til you get to your destination to send it.  Also, state sales tax are going up today! If you are in the Hampton Roads or Northern VA areas it will be going up to 6%. All other areas will be only going up to 5.3%. Just thought I'd share those facts with you guys!

Now on to what consumed my day yesterday.
The 2013 NHL Draft!
Oh what a day it was. I know you probably think I'm a loser for sitting in front of a tv and watching a draft all day. But hockey is my passion, so I follow along with this stuff. There was some big moves made yesterday. And some that I didn't quite understand, but to each their own.

Two major trades went down yesterday, so I'll tell you about them first. I never would have seen either of the two coming.

First, Vancouver traded Goalie Cory Schneider to the New Jersey Devils for the #9 over all pick in the draft.Vancouver ended up getting Bo Horvat a 6'0' 200lb Center from the London Knights.  This came as a complete shock to fans and to Cory and to starting goalie Roberto Luongo. Luongo was already cutting ties with the team and looking for a new place to play this season, leaving Schneider to be the starting tender this season. But with Schneider gone, what does Luongo do now?  I think this will be a good move for Schneider though, seeing as how Brodeur is at the end of his career. It's going to leave Schneider as the new franchise goaltender. There won't be the uncertainty in Jersey like there would have been for him in Vancouver.

Second big trade was Chicago sending Dave Bolland to Toronto for their 2013 2nd round pick (# 51), 4th round pick (# 117) and a 2014 4th round pick. I get that cap space was a major factor in this trade and that Bolland will be going back home to play, but I think Bolland got the crappy end of the deal. ONE WEEK ago he scored the game winning goal to win the Stanley Cup, now he's going to a team that he's not going to get a chance to win the cup with for quite some time. Toronto is a great city, I love Toronto... but they don't have the best hockey team. But maybe he's happy with it, I wish him the best in Toronto!

The two teams I keep up with are Philadelphia and Anaheim, here are the picks that they received in yesterday's draft.

Flyers:
Round 1 #11 overall
Samuel Morin
6'7" 205lb Defenseman

Round 2 #41 overall
Robert Hagg
6'5" 205lb Defenseman

Round 3 #72 overall
Tyrell Goulbourne
5'10" 195lb Left Wing

Round 5 #132 overall
Terrance Amorosa
6'1" 185LB Defenseman

Round 6 #162 overall

Merrick Madesn
6'4" 177lb Goalie

Round 7 #192 overall
David Drake
6'3' 155lb Defenseman

For Anaheim:
Round 1 #26 overall
Shea Theodore
6'2" 179lb Defenseman

Round 2 #45 overall
Nick Sorensen
6'1" 172lb Forward

Round 3 #87 overall
Keaton Thompson
6'1" 170lb Defenseman

Round 5 #147
Grant Besse
5'9" 177lb  Right Wing

Round 6 #177
Miro Aaltonen
5'10" 172lb Center

Good luck to all the kids who got drafted yesterday and thanks for making me feel old. All these kids were '94 and '95 babies... who just signed HUGE contracts for lots of money. I don't know about you, but it makes me feel old...and VERY jealous. :)
