Shenanigans

I hope everyone is staying warm this morning. I'm pretty sure this is too cold for November, but at least there is no snow! The cold weather couldn't damper my awesome weekend! Hoping everyone had fantastic weekends as well.

Friday evening was spent at the Norfolk Admirals game with my lovely god daughter. She's 3 and has been wanting to go to a game with me, so I finally took her to her first hockey game! I absolutely loved spending time with her, and taking her to do something I absolutely love. She had a blast and even got a puck from one of the player's during warm-ups, what a lucky girl. Even though she fell asleep half way through the game, I was happy to sit there and cuddle her as she slept. It really meant a lot to me to get to take her to her first game, so thank you Jordan and Faith for letting me take her!

Saturday I spent most of the day with my Mom. We decided to go shopping, and I spent entirely too much..... on the dog. I think other than for some Christmas presents for my god babies... I spent all my money on the dog. He's unbelievably spoiled, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I would really hate to see how I spoil my children, when I decide to have them. I can't even find a man though, so that will be a while! The rest of the night was spent at the hockey game, even though they ended up losing!

Sunday was spent cleaning up the house, spending time with my parents, and having Thanksgiving dinner with my friends and god babies! Faith and Jordan were ever so nice enough to invite me over for a delicious dinner, since I wouldn't be here for Thanksgiving. I love them, they always treat me right.

I'm excited for the short work week! I have to work today, then it's off to class as usual. Tomorrow I'm headed down to the beach house to help my mother clean up and get the house right for the Holiday weekend. Wednesday it's back to work and school! Wednesday night I'm going to head to the Admirals game then straight down to the beach house. Then it's relaxation time with the family.

I was looking at the Black Friday ads and I was pretty bummed to see that most of them start on Thanksgiving now. Guess we will go hit some up on Thanksgiving, then head home for a little bit of sleep before then next ones start up on Black Friday. I've already started pin pointing what I want. Is there anything you are looking for this Holiday season? Do you ever go Black Friday shopping!?

Hoping to have a nice blog post for you after the Holidays!? Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Virginia Comfort

It's been a long time coming, but I can officially say that our family is now the proud owner's of the "Virginia Comfort". That would be our beach house down in the Outer Banks. Every house has their own name, and I'm pretty sure that's what we've decided on. Today is finally Closing Day!

My family and I have always gone down to the Outer Banks every summer since I was a kid, without fail. We always stayed in my Great Aunt's house down at the 4.5 mile post. This year we saw that the house beside hers was for sale. That immediately sparked our interest, and we began taking a look at it and putting in an offer.  That deal fell through because the people wanted far more than we were willing to pay, seeing as how it needed a lot of work done structurally. My Mom was determined at that point that we were going to get a beach house, so we started looking up other properties online. We have had an amazing Realtor who has definitely steered us through some not so great properties, to the one we are closing on today. I couldn't be happier with the one we chose and get to call ours! It's perfect size for us with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. It has a really big screened in porch on the front of the house, where I can see us spending a many of nights out there. Above the screened in porch, we also have a sun deck... how freaking cool! I don't have too many pictures of the house yet, but I will be sure to get some next week while we are there for Thanksgiving.

Until then, here is "Virginia Comfort".

Finally got the keys!

She is no longer "Star of the Sea".
And that ugly management sign is getting taken down!

View from our Sun Deck!

View from our screened in porch!

The beach right across the street from our house!

The first of many times relaxing in the ocean down there at the new place!
Oh, and by the way, she is available to rent out! So if you need some relaxation time, or a nice get away with the family, or just some time at the beach... ask for pricing and availability! You just can't take my Thanksgiving away from me this year! :)

Holiday Season

The Holidays are quickly approaching and I've realized that I'm totally unprepared! I guess it's time to step up my game and get into the holiday spirit. Things have been pretty hectic lately, but it seems as though everything is calming down and won't be so crazy like I thought it was.

Can you believe that NEXT WEEK is Thanksgiving. Literally, it's in 10 days! Where has this year gone!? I think it's perfectly acceptable to go ahead and put up my Christmas tree this weekend. The only reason I say that is because I usually partake in the Black Friday shopping ritual. Yes, my Mother and I are those crazy ladies who plan out which stores and the strategies while in the stores. If I go ahead and get my tree up this weekend, I can wrap the things I buy for Black Friday and then don't have to stress about them at the last minute. I don't put up outside decorations, so chances are... I'll be the only one seeing my pretty tree anyways! If I don't get it put up this weekend, it will definitely be going up next weekend. I think putting up your Christmas tree is a little more socially acceptable on the weekend after Thanksgiving, but I play by my own rules, so we will have to see how it plays out!

I'm hoping to be spending Thanksgiving down in the Outer Banks, but nothing is definite. I'm pretty excited to switch things up this year, maybe start a new tradition. I really want to do my Black Friday shopping down there this year. Hit up the normal stores like Walmart, Kmart, and Belk...but then they also have the Outlets. They normally have great deals in general, so I'm sure Black Friday will be crazy down there. Fingers crossed that I can get some good deals this year, and if not... it's for the thrill of the game. Plus it's always a fun time for Mom and me.

Sitting outside waiting for doors to open last year!

What are some good movies coming out around Thanksgiving? I really wanna go see a movie with the family, Thanksgiving will be a day of relaxation, not one of cooking and cleaning for us! What are some of your traditions for Thanksgiving? Are you really into the Black Friday craze? Do you see it as worth your time, or do you get deals elsewhere? When do you start decorating for Christmas?

Here We Go Ducks, Here We Go!

Is it too early to say I'm ready for the weekend?
It is?! Oh well, I'm saying it anyway...

I'm so ready for my weekend!

Ok, well not the whole weekend, just Friday!

If you haven't figured out by now from reading my blog posts, I'm obsessed with hockey. I'm not ashamed to admit it, and nothing makes me happier than getting to go to an NHL game! Especially to a team I haven't seen in person yet! This Friday is no exception!

My Dad and I are hitting the road, along with my friends, to see the Anaheim Ducks play the Carolina Hurricanes Friday evening. I will be decked out in my Anaheim gear! Why am I so stoked to see Anaheim you ask? Well, it's quite simple... they are the parent club of the Norfolk Admirals. I love to see guys who played here in Norfolk, making it in the NHL. There's quite a few guys that played here last year, and are now up with the Ducks.

VS

Haven't been on a road trip in quite a while, so it'll be nice to get a little one in. Before coming home and having a kickball tournament on Saturday. That's right, the end of the fall kickball season is coming to an end. The last weekend of kickball for 2013.

Talking about that, where has this year gone!? Seriously, I feel like we just hit 2013... and now Christmas music is playing and it's almost half way through November. I guess when everyone said time flies as you get older, they were right. Before you know it, the summer will be here again! Let's just hope we get there with NO SNOW this winter! This girl is not one for snow! It's not looking like that is very likely though. As I was getting ready for work this morning I heard the news playing on TV, talking about this week's weather. Why oh why did I hear that tomorrow nights' rain may turn over to snow. There's no chance of that stuff sticking, but still... the thought of snow makes me cringe. Ba-hum-bug when it comes to snow! It may look pretty, but that's about it!

This is the truth!

ALSO! Two months from today I will be going to see my Philadelphia Flyers play the Tampa Bay Lightning! That's definitely going to be a great game. I love my Flyers to death, but I also like to see my fantasy team players do well. I have 4 fantasy players on the Lightning, but still... Let's go Flyers.
