5 Days Til Christmas And It's 57 Degrees!

Hey there everyone!

First off I want to say Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to everyone!
It's that time of year when everyone gains a few more pounds!

I, for one, could use a few more days to prepare for Christmas.
So it looks like a little bit of last minute shopping for me!
I also get the wonderful task of puppy sitting my sister's new dog.
I really hope my dog and cat get along with him!

Well a lot has been going on lately!
Life has been busy busy busy.

I have also reconnected with someone who is absolutely amazing.

And I'm so glad I did because he makes me extremely happy.
This time I won't be messing things up between us. :)

I'll be kicking off my holiday weekend tonight...
I have been given tickets to see Andy Grammer and A Rocket To The Moon.
I love Andy Grammer's music, but had never heard of the other band.
However, the last few days... I've become accustomed to their music.
And I actually quite like it!
Best part... Meet n Greet passes are included with my tickets!
Oh Hey!!! So I will be meeting Mr. Grammer and hopefully Nick Santino of ARTTM.

Mr. Andy Grammer!

It's about that time of year where everyone starts talking about new years resolutions.
Do you have one yet? What is it???

What are you hoping Santa brings you for Christmas?
Expecting anything good?

It's the freaking weekend...

I'm about to have me some fun.

Yes unfortunately I just busted out the R.Kelly lyrics.
Please excuse me.

But it is the weekend and I've got a pretty good one planned.
It didn't start out to well last night though.
Went up to a local bar that would be considered my hang out.
Though I wasn't drinking, my friends band was playing.
They are amazing... check them out....The Audio Affair
Also, every Thursday night is ladies night and they give out a free coach purse.
SAY WHATTTT!?!?!?!
You heard it right... FREE COACH PURSE.
If you live in the Hampton Roads area,
You should check out Eagles Nest ....
They have $1.50 skinny drinks for the ladies all night.
And each lady gets at least one ticket for the drawing.
They also give out more tickets for doing different events...
Such as riding the bull or doing the wobble on stage.
Like I said if you are in the area, you should definitely check it out!

I should get a free coach purse for promoting on my blog!!!

Does anyone have any fun plans for the weekend?
Concerts, Sporting Events, Movie Dates...???

It's getting closer and closer to Christmas time and I'm so not ready.
Though I love the holiday season, I'm not ready in the slightest this year.
What's on your Christmas List this year??

See ya on the flip side of the weekend! Enjoy!

Never Fails...

So I knew coming into this whole blogging thing, that I wouldn't be good at it. I've tried to do other blog a few times. I get going on a good track and then it all just seems to fall apart like it has now. However, I usually don't try to save it once it's already hit rock bottom. For a little over 2 weeks now I've been coming and starting blog entries and getting no where. It's like I'm at a dead end road. I didn't know what people wanted to hear about, what would make people follow and keep reading. Then I realized... my blog is just about me. It's a place for me to just let whatever is stirring in my brain out! So that's what I shall do.

Holiday season is in full effect. Thanksgiving just pasted last week and I hope that all my American readers had a fantastic holiday! I know I did. Unfortunately my sister and brother in law were out of town for the holiday so it was a small get together for me! My mother made a fabulous lunch for Thanksgiving for my dad, my grandmother, my friend Robert, and myself. We were absolutely stuffed afterwards, to the point we had to take a nap.

I don't know how many of you do Black Friday shopping... but I do. Every year my mother and I go out in search of some great deals. This year we recruited my best friend Robert to come along with us. You know, thinking he's a man and he can muscle his way around. Well, poor Robert thought that everything he wanted to get, he would get. Oh boy was he wrong. He wanted a popular toy that was out, something in the electronics section, and a fire pit. He figured out very quickly that he isn't a fan of Black Friday shopping. I don't think he will be tagging along next year. Though he did come up empty handed with the major things he wanted... he still ended up getting some dvds, a few toys, and a nice shirt!

My mom and I take this whole Black Friday thing seriously. We have a plan before we enter the store and we stick to it. Somehow I always get stuck going to the shoe section in one store that we go to. Can you say absolutely ridiculously crazy?!?! All I got to say... is you better stay out of my way. I knock people out. Ok... Not really. But I do get feisty and will knock you out the way. Either way I get what is needed and meet mom in our preplanned location. Quick, simple, and effective. Mom and I came away with some awesome deals and a lot of the things we set out for. Watch and learn Robert, watch and learn.

Well that's about all we are going to get into in this entry.
How was everyone's Thanksgiving?? What are some traditions that you guys have when it comes to the holidays? Did anyone brave it out for Black Friday? Get any good deals?

Relaxing in the shopping cart before the Black Friday Frenzy begins!
Robert said you can't have Thanksgiving without a sandwich!
Robert enjoying his sandwich!

Extended Break

Well hello to who ever still follows my blog.
I'm sorry to have taken an extended break.
A lot has been going on in the life of Holly.
The biggest thing to deal with lately has been the breaking up of my boyfriend and me.
It's had be stressed out the last few weeks.

I'm really sad to see it over and I wish nothing but the best for him.

Our regular season of kickball ended this past Friday leaving us with a 6-4 record for the season.
I am really proud of my team, seeing as how we had a really tough schedule this season.

Now it's time for play offs this weekend.
I'm super excited and know that we can do really well!

However, my Norfolk Admirals haven't done so well.
They are on a 4 game road trip... in which I hope they get their act together.
They have lost the first 3 games on the road and today is the final contest.
Pretty ugly loses if you ask me. :(
So I'm hoping to listen to the game today and get to hear the boys win.

Thinking about doing an Alaska post here soon.
So make sure you check back with me.
I'm going to try to get back into the swing of things here.

Until next time...
Enjoy your Monday.

Freaky Friday. && A Recipe!

Ok so it's not really "freaky"... but it is FRIDAY!

On tonight's agenda is kickball and hockey.
SchweatyBallz looks to get another win to finish out the season strong.
&& Then hopefully it's off to see some Admirals hockey!

As always, there are many things I would like to get done this weekend.
Cleaning out and moving my cabinets in are on the list...
As well as doing some retail therapy.
It's much needed right now.

I really want to get some Pho 79 and sweet frog (froyo).
So hopefully my sister reads this and takes a hint!
HINT HINT BETHANY!!!

Well now that all the ruckus from the Hurricane has calmed down...
It's back to life as usual!

I tried out another new recipe the other day.
Does anyone like Beef Stroganoff??
This recipe is SUPER simple and very yummy!

Ingridients:
2 lbs beef stew meat
3 cans of cream of mushroom soup
1 cup of sour cream
1/2 cup of water
1 envelope of dry onion soup mix
french onions

Salt & Pepper to taste
Egg Noodles

Directions:
Combine soup, sour cream, water, and soup mix in a crock pot.
Stir it all together then add your stew meat.
Combine it all really well to make sure everything is coated.
Turn the crock pot on low for 6 hours (or high for 3).
Cook your egg noodles according to package directions.
When done, put your noodles on a plate and soup stroganoff mixture over it.
Top it with a dollop of sour cream and some french onion straws and enjoy!!!

(sorry I can't remember where I found the recipe.)

So what are your plans for this weekend?

The slow decline!

And the blog post starting coming less and less frequent.
I am not good at coming up with things to talk about.
So let's all be glad that I never wanted to be a writer!

Been a little down in the dumps the past couple days,
So music has been my savior!

I'm definitely one of the people who turn to music when I just need to get my mind off of things.
I listen to almost anything you can think of.
Some of my favorite bands/artists would have to be:
Jason Aldean
Darius Rucker
A Day to Remember
Taking Back Sunday
The Rural Alberta Advantage
Mumford and Sons
City and Colour

Also I use to absolutely love bands like bracewar, underoath, silverstein, senses fail, etc.

The older I've gotten though... the mellow I'm liking my music.
I guess that folky/indie type of scene is what I've been migrating too lately.
Check back in about a month, I'm sure it will change.

But now I'm going to use my blog to give some recognition to the band who has to be my absolute favorite. I would not have known about them, had I never met my boyfriend. I don't care what mood I'm in, I listen to them and it just puts me in my own little world and I am happy.

Never heard of them? You should go download their two albums off of iTunes.

They are a Canadian Indie Rock band formed about 7 years ago out of Toronto. The band is made up of two guys and a girl; Nils, Amy, & Paul. Their sound definitely isn't for everyone but I absolutely love them! I would probably be the HAPPIEST girl on the planet if I could see them live, but the chances of that happening are slim to none.

Well time to go listen to some RAA!

Check them out!!!!

Are there any other bands/artists that you think I should check out? I'm always down for discovering new stuff.

Happy Friday Everyone!

Well, rain isn't the best way to start a Friday off.
Hopefully it doesn't last all day!

What are your plans for the weekend?

Tonight my night will consist of SchweatyBallz kickball and then it's off to the Norfolk Admirals hockey game. But before that I must touch up the paint on the dresser that I finally got done! It's time to move it into the house and get my set up! I'm excited.

I've only got a month until my boyfriend gets here! I haven't seen him in 3 months, so it will be nice to see him after 4 long months. It won't be Thanksgiving in the Dominican like last year, but this year it will be spent with family. Eating yummy food, drinking beers, and playing cornhole! :)

I have so much to do before he gets here. I am the biggest procrastinator when it comes to house work. But I am determined to get it all done with in a reasonable amount of time. Once this weekend's work gets done it will be a lot easier. Get the major stuff out of the way first, then work on the smaller things.

Is there anything you guys are looking forward to that's coming up?

Who wouldn't want to spend Thanksgiving in a place like that. <3  Oh how I miss it. That makes me want to do a post about the Dominican... so be looking for it in the near future. Trust me, it'll be worth a look!

TV Series Decisions! Help!!

Lately my friend and I have been watching the hell out of some True Blood trying to catch up. We started out at Season 2 and are now about to start Season 5. Once we get all caught up, we have nothing lined up to watch. I really don't want to catch up all the True Blood, because I love the show.

What show should I start watching next. Some options I've thought of...
-The Walking Dead
-Sons of Anarchy
-Game of Thrones

I need input. What shows do you guys like watching??

My favorite!

Pet Photos!

I'm going to talk a little bit today about the pet photos that my Mother and I had done of our dogs this weekend. The pictures came out so adorable. You should definitely check out this site if you're around the Hampton Roads area and go take your pets. Visit their website or check out their facebook.
They do photos for all seasons and are amazing people to work with. No matter how difficult your pet is being they will be sure to not let you leave until you have gotten a perfect picture of your pooch. (Or cat, rat, snake, lizard, etc.) They have any kind of merchandise to get your pet's photo on as well. My mother always gets garden flags for her yard. I have a bottle opener key chain of my dog. :) These are just some pictures he took of Miles and Jonas. But be sure to go to their facebook page to see all the awesome photos they have done!

It's My Favorite Day of the Year!

No no no... not because it's Friday.
Though that is nice too.

IT'S THE START OF HOCKEY SEASON.

And that's a very big deal to me.
Last night was suppose to be the opening night for NHL teams.
My lovely Philadelphia Flyers were suppose to play the Boston Bruins.
Would have loved to watch that game.

Tonight however is the Norfolk Admirals home opener.
Last season the Admirals had a 28 game winning streak to end the season.
In the playoffs they won 15 of 18 games.
&& Ended up winning the Calder Cup.
BIG DEAL FOR US FANS IN NORFOLK!

Norfolk Admirals Baby!

However, the Tampa Bay Management decided they no longer wanted to be affiliated with us anymore. So they packed up shop and most of the boys who just won the cup, and headed to Syracuse, New York. Bummer I know! In return we now have the boys who were playing in Syracuse last year. Instead of the Lightning being our parent team, we are now under the wings of the Anaheim Ducks. Yes, bring out the QUACK QUACK QUACK! (I legit want to get a duck call for the games.)

I call this the year of the come backs. Why you ask? All three coaches that we have this year were here at various times. Our Head Coach Trent Yawney was the coach here in Norfolk when the Admirals switched from the ECHL to the AHL. We were under the Black Hawks at that time. Every one of the five seasons he was here, we made it to the playoffs. Our Associate Coach Mike Haviland took over the coaching roles when Trent Yawney went on to bigger and better things. Every season under his belt, the team made it to playoffs as well. Marty Wilford is our Assistant Coach actually played for the Admirals to start off his career.  Not only are the coaches come back kids, some of the players are as well. Jay Rosehill, Matt Smaby, and Jordan Hendry are all players who have played here previously.

The team this year is looking really good. It's a different style of hockey then what we saw last year. Yes I know, these aren't the guys who made the streak, and they aren't the ones who won the Calder Cup, but guess what... it's theirs to defend. I'm glad to hear that they understand that the streak and the cup are theirs to defend. It's big shoes to fill but I think these guys have what it takes. It's not the name of the back of the sweater that matters, it's the logo on the front. Even if it is a whole new group of guys, they are the Norfolk Admirals and I will support them 100%.

Puck drops at Norfolk Scope tonight at 7:30... where will you be?

Tuesday morning, rain is falling!

Good morning! Hope you all had a fantastic Monday! Other than all the rain, my day went pretty well. I found a recipe while I was sitting at work that looked simple and easy. I decided that I was going to try it out last night and see how it went. I am trying to save money and am not the one to go spend $50 trying to make a meal. I can go get some yummy Pho for less than that. We have this store around my area called "Deals". It's kind of a mix between dollar tree, five below, and dollar general. I love the place. They even have a freezer/grocery section.

So I set out for deal last night in the pour raining to get some stuff to make for dinner.
Here are the ingredients you will need and how much I paid for them.

24 oz of ziti -$1.00  ( this was actually too much, 16 oz box will work just fine)
1 24oz jar of marinara sauce - $2.00
1 16oz jar of alfredo sauce - $2.00
Shredded Mozzarella cheese - $ 2.00
Shredded Parmesan cheese- Already had at home

I also bought garlic bread for $1 and threw some mozzarella cheese on it to make it cheesy garlic bread.
So for a whole $8 I made an amazing meal that was dinner last night and enough for 3 lunches left over.

Here's how simple it is!

Cook pasta according to directions on package. ( I used ziti, recipe called for penne... use whatever you want) While the pasta is cooking, you are going to go ahead and get your sauce mix ready. In a big bowl combine the marinara and alfredo sauces. Mix them all up, then add in about 2 cups of the shredded mozzarella cheese. Once all that is mixed together and the pasta is done, pour the pasta into the mixture. Toss the pasta to make sure it all gets coated in the sauce. Next you want to get out your 9 x 13 baking dish and pour the pasta and sauce into the dish.  Now you want to bake it for 20 to 25 minutes at 350. At about 15 minutes, you want to pull it out of the oven and sprinkle about 1 cup of shredded parmesan cheese over the top. Then let it finish baking.
Doesn't it look amazing!

It was a SUPER SIMPLE meal that tasted amazing. It will definitely be on the menu again at my house.

Hope you guys try it out and enjoy it!

Recipe FINALLY!

Alright... I know... It's taken a week to put up the recipe blog.
I am so sorry!

I made a wonderful Baked Balsamic Chicken and Balsamic Roasted Asparagus.
It was absolutely delicious. I went by the recipe I had found on both.
However, next time I will do things a little different on the chicken.

For the original chicken recipe you can look here.

I used boneless, skinless chicken breast for this instead of chicken breast halves.

I will definitely be making this again.
Except next time I will add the balsamic, olive oil, oregano, and chicken in a zip lock bag.
I think if it gets to marinate a little bit, the chicken will have a more balsamic flavor.

Baked Balsamic Chicken. Photo by Sammy Mae
This is the picture from the recipe here

The asparagus that went along with this were so simple and delicious.

Ingredients:
1 lb. asparagus
2 TB olive oil
2 TB balsamic vinegar
Black Pepper
Kosher Salt
Parmesan Cheese (grated)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Wash and trim asparagus. Arrange in a single layer in a shallow baking dish. (I used a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil for more room.)
Drizzle oil and balsamic vinegar over asparagus. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and cheese.
Bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees until tender and fragrant, approximately 15-20 minutes.

I had left overs on both and they were still delicious when heated up for lunch the next day.
It's definitely worth a try!!! And seeing as they both use some of the same ingredients, it's cost saving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

That's right!
If you didn't know... today is Thanksgiving in Canada.

This weekend was quite eventful to say the least.
But we won't be getting into all those details.

However, one thing I must share is my attempt at painting my dresser.
At first I attempted to spray paint the thing...
And that just turned out to be a bad idea.
I have learned that spray paint and me are not friends.
So I got a little ticked off and went to Lowe's to get regular paint.

Legit.. Lowe's was a scary place for me by myself.
I usually go with my father and I'm fine.
But I was a bit intimidated.
I kept walking in circles, til a nice lady helped me.
I ended up getting what I needed,
And headed on home to finish the job.

As I start painting the frame around the mirror,
All the birds start screeching so loud.
And then I heard what sounded like rain drops.
...Well it wasn't rain... it was bird poop!

They were getting it all over the dresser,
Luckily I don't think any got on me.
Either way, to be safe, I went inside and showered.
So now I have a tiny bit painted,
But we moved it on to the porch.
No more bird poop now!

This evening it's looking like...
Painting the dresser, doing laundry,
Making returns, and cooking dinner.

WOOOO what an awesome sounding night!

Oh and of course watching the O's game.
Since we lost last night!!!

How was everyone's weekend?

It's time for the weekend!

I know I know.. I still haven't gotten the recipe blog up.
I'd do it at work, but the pictures are on my camera at the house.
And seeing as how this week, I haven't been home much.
I haven't gotten the blog up.
It will happen.

But on to happier things.

IT'S FRIDAY!

And you know what that means, it's time to have some fun.
Tonight is an important night for a lot of teams.
So good luck to all of those, who I support!

My kickball team is looking to go 4-1 tonight!

After our 5-4 win last week to make us 3-1.

The Virginia Destroyers have their season opener and are looking for their first win of the season.

The Baltimore Orioles HAVE TO win tonight if they want to stay in the playoffs.

&& The Oscar Smith High School's football team has it's home coming tonight.

Good luck to the four of us!

Tomorrow shall be a busy day of cleaning, rearranging, and redoing.
Going to be a nice day and I need to get stuff done at the house.

And tomorrow night is when the REAL fun begins!
The Norfolk Admirals has their first exhibition game.
Hockey is back in Norfolk baby!
After the game it's off to pick up my season tickets and meet all the new players on the team.
Seeing as how the team is COMPLETELY different from last season.

Sunday is the Admirals second exhibition game.
As well as the Eagles play the Steelers.
Very busy weekend,
But I'm ready to get it started!

If you haven't figured out by now...
Sports are my main passion!

What are your plans this weekend???
Anything fun/cool going on?

Fur Baby Love!

Ok so... I couldn't get the recipe post up last night.
I promise I will tonight.
If not, I quit! haha.
Journey consumed my night last night.
Making me not have time to do anything.
But that's beside the point.

Today I'm going to share about my lovely fur babies.

First off is Tucker. He is about 6 years old. And he is a tuxedo cat. Don't let his pretty little face fool you, he is mean. Granted his parents were both wild cats, I've raised him since he was like 3 weeks old. I have so many scars on my body from him. He wouldn't even be in the room... then out of know where he would be on your arm or leg with his claws dug in you and biting you. So when it was time to get fixed... he got declawed. I know some people think that's harsh, but I wanna see you live with him. We only did his front claws, and that helped with some of the scratching. Soon he realized he still had back claws!!! And he bites at random times. He also steals money and is a satanist. He will take all of the dog toys and set them in a perfect circle and put one in the middle like it's being sacrificed. He likes to set toys in the middle of the steps so I trip over them and kill myself. Or at the front door so I can't open the door. I don't have many pictures on this computer of him... cause I'm usually trying to stay away from him.
Cat In A Bag

One of the few times he's nice to me.

Then we have my wonderful little dog. His name is Jonas and NO!... It's not after the Jonas Brothers. He was actually named after the song from Weezer..."My Name is Jonas". He has severe separation anxiety, which I take full responsibility. He really is like my child and I don't think he fully understands that he isn't a human. He is my life line. I don't know what I'd do without him. There's so much I could say.. But I'm just going to let you aww over his pictures! :)

He loves the Flyers! :)

At the Admirals / Phantoms game.

Watching the hockey game!

He's got a hard job.

He had enough of Bark in the Park.

Bath time.

Jonas with his birthday ice cream.

My copilot is asleep.

How handsome!

Family picture with Santa.

Sorry Girls, I only date models!

Santa reading him a bedtime story.
As you can tell, he is treated like a child. :) And yes I show favoritism. Maybe if the cat didn't sit on my face when I'm sleeping and try to kill me... I'd like him just as much. But he's psycho, so things are the way they are. Don't get me wrong I love my cat... he's just crazy and you never know what he's capable of. You guys are probably laughing at me right now... But ask my family... They know I'm not lying!

I wanna see pictures of your fur babies... So post and share!!! :)
