I Made It!

Hey everyone! Happy Friday!! I hope you all have a fantastic holiday weekend planned. I know I have lots of awesome stuff going on this weekend! Be sure to come back next week and see how the weekend's adventures go!

Well, I finally made it though my first week of classes at school! I forgot that college teachers don't waste any time with putting you to work. This semester I'm taking 4 classes. I have Accounting, Intro to Business, Math, and a College Skills class. Luckily, my college skills class is only an 8 week online course that doesn't start til mid October. My other three classes are all taken in a campus classroom. I have strategically scheduled my classes so that they don't interfere with the hockey schedule! :) Told you I'm obsessed with hockey. So now I've gone from going to work and having a life... to going to work then going to class... 4 days a week! Oh the joys!!!  After classes are out, I seriously just want to go home and relax and do nothing!

My intro to business class is once a week. My teacher is a huge Red Sox and Capitals fan. Can we say BOO! We won't be getting along come hockey season. Luckily, she's a really big sports fan also. She has worked our class/homework schedule around her sports as well. So far, the class is seeming pretty easy... but I guess only time will tell. The only problem I have with this class is we have to do a group project at the end of the semester. I would much rather do a business plan on my own than do it in a group. I'm dreading this assignment.

My accounting class is two nights a week. Boy, can we say A LOT OF WORK! The first week and there is already so much that we have to do. I'm really not getting everything right now, so let's hope that changes. Luckily my sister loves accounting... so hopefully she will help me out this weekend since she is coming in town. *Hint Hint Wink Wink Bethany* I think once I actually start to understand the basics, I'll do just fine.

Math is by far my favorite of the semester. We haven't started doing any work yet or anything, but my teacher is AMAZING! If you ever have to take a math class at the Chesapeake TCC campus, I would highly recommend taking classes from Carl Seward. The whole class was dying of laughter the entire time we were in class. Teachers that make things fun, make it easier to do well in the class. I'm definitely looking forward to going to his class each week.

Now it's off to do more homework so I won't have any to do this weekend! I hope you all have an awesome weekend!!!

At least we get comfortable chairs.

Studying at work.

Back to Reality

Hey everyone, I'm finally back from vacation and back in the real world. I had an absolutely wonderful time though.  The Friday before I left, our kickball team had double header and won both games. The second game was definitely the best game of the season. Such a close game but I'm glad our team stuck together and pulled out the win! The following night, my ladies and me went to the DJ Pauly D/ Jesse McCartney/ Backstreet Boys concert. It was a fantastic time. I wasn't the biggest BSB fan growing up (NSYNC baby!) but they put on a good show. However, my favorite part of the night was Jesse McCartney. I think he was the best performance of the night.

Sunday it was off to the most perfect place in the world, the OBX. For those of you that don't know what that is, it's the Outer Banks... or more commonly known as Nags Head, NC. My family and I have been going down there for a week for the past 20 years. My Dad's Aunt has a house in Kitty Hawk on the sound side of the beach road. Luckily she has no beach houses in front of her, so it's a simple walk across the street and over the dune.  Especially since my sister and brother in law live in Northern VA, it's nice to get everyone together!

Now for a bit of a photo dump. :)

Recreational Sports!

If you guys haven't figured out by now, I'm a sports junkie. Doesn't matter whether I'm watching...or I'm playing. I love anything and everything to do with sports. I was never the girly girl growing up. I always went to sporting events and tagged along with my Dad. Don't get me wrong though, I wouldn't have it any other way. Everyone is passionate about different things...my Mom loves politics, my sister loves antiques/vintage stuff, Dad loves lodge... and I.... love sports.

I played sports all growing up until mid way through high school. As a kid, I remember my Dad coaching my soccer teams and my softball teams. I would bounce back and forth between the two sports. When I got to middle school I decided I wanted to take up playing volleyball. I really loved volleyball and was sad that I didn't continue it when I got into high school. My first year of high school I decided I would get back into soccer... but I only played that for a year. After that I pretty much put all the sports aside and just watched. Most of that was due to the fact that I was more into going to work, than I was hanging out with all my friends. When my sister got me into playing kickball I was excited to be doing something again. 3 years later I'm still playing and loving it.

Last night I went to dinner with a couple of friends, then we decided to go watch one of our kickball teammates play indoor soccer! Boy did that make me miss playing! There's an awesome sports complex in Virginia Beach called the Virginia Beach Field House. They do everything there! And best of all, it's indoors! They have; soccer, flag football, volleyball, basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, kickball, dodgeball, and wiffleball. They also have outdoor sports like softball, baseball, and football. As I was looking around the site I also saw they that are adding a new sport this fall... FLOOR HOCKEY! WHAT!?  Oh if only I didn't have classes on the night that they are playing. I'm totally going to look into it for the winter or next spring. I seriously would beast on some floor hockey.

If you're looking for a fun recreational or competitive sport to play, I would highly suggest checking the place out. They have a concession area fully equipped with beer. Gotta have a beer after a hard fought game! And word on the street is there is even a froyo vending machine. SIGN ME UP!

Live Every Day to it's Fullest

Hey there everyone, I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. Mine was... interesting, to say the least. This week is filled with packing, getting the house ready, and getting things right for vacation! I'm absolutely ready for some family vacation time. Every year my family goes down to the Outer Banks for a week to my Aunt's cottage. Well, every year except last year when we ventured to Alaska. Don't get me wrong, Alaska is really pretty... but I like my beach vacations. It's exactly what I need before starting my incredibly busy lifestyle with school starting back.

Yesterday, a guy that I grew up with lost his life. Although I wasn't very close with him anymore, it's still sad to hear of a young man losing his life unexpectedly. My thoughts go out to all of his family and friends as they go through this difficult time. It just goes to show, that you never know when your time on earth is up.

It really makes you think about your life when something like this happens. You should always live everyday to its fullest. Tell the people that you love, that you love them. Don't let things go unsaid that should be said. Always surround yourself with people and things that make you happy. Never sacrifice your happiness and what you want for someone else who could care less about you. Make goals and aspirations, and strive your hardest to achieve them. Remember that even your bad days, really aren't that bad. Make your life worth living, so that when it's your time to go... every one can say, "Man, they really lived their life to the fullest".

Again, my thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of this young man. I can only imagine what they are going through right now. Rest easy up there with your Dad, Q. I know you're happy to be with him again.

Don't let life pass you by, go out there and grab the bull by the horns and take control on your life!! Hope everyone has a good day. Do something today that will make you smile.

...Until Next Time...

Goo Goo Dolls & Ladies Night

It's Friday!! That means there's only a few hours separating me from my weekend! I hope everyone has some awesome plans to fill their weekend.

Yesterday I was lucky to only work a little over half a day. My Mom had been invited to see the Goo Goo Dolls live at an up close and personal type of event. Being the awesome Mom she is, she took me with her. I know some of their songs, so I figured why not. They walked out on stage...and my jaw dropped. They looked their age, that's all I'm going to say. But you can't rag on them too much because they still sound great! They played a few songs before taking pictures with everyone. They also gave out a signed photo and a free copy of their new album that came out in June. 94.9 The Point never ceases to amaze me with the meet and greets that they get to do. Out of the Goo Goo Doll's whole tour, they were only doing two up close and personals. One being here and the other in Texas. I'm sure that the concert was phenomenal last night but I had other plans.

It was ladies night!!! There's a group of 5 of us ladies that all try to get together once a week for dinner somewhere. As well as the two munchkins, can't forget them. We always try to switch up where we eat, so we aren't getting sick of something. Nothing but good food, lots of laughs, and even more gossip are a part of  Ladies Night. I don't know what I would do without these ladies. Last night, we ended up going to The Greene Turtle in Greenbrier Mall. It seems as though every time we go there they have a different menu. I ended up ordering the Blackened Chicken Quesadilla and boy was it yummy! It's definitely something worth trying!

School Will Break You

My social life as we know it will be over in approximately 16 days. If you've been following my blog, you know that I have enrolled in college this semester. It's been quite a while since I've went to school, but I knew I needed to go ahead and finish something. I'm pretty determined to go ahead and get everything done.

I've done everything I needed to do at this point... sign up for classes, pay tuition, and get books. The last one on the list was the worst of them all. I had this great idea that I was going to rent my textbooks for the semester and it wasn't going to cost much. Oh boy was I wrong. Three of the four classes I'm taking are using TCC specific books. On top of that, they can't be bought used because they all have access codes. This is the first time I've heard about having to have access codes, and they are already a pain in my butt. They can only be used once, so I'm pretty sure that now I won't be able to sell them back. Did I mention that two of them aren't even text books.... they are loose leaf paper. Seriously? I'll just be glad to get this semester rolling. It'll be weird sitting in classes at night though!

That does not look like $500, pretty ridiculous.

My two "loose leaf" text books. How annoying!

Good luck to everyone else who is attending school in the fall!

Finally, the Month I've Been Waiting For.

Happy Friday everyone, it's another work week and another month down. I've been looking forward to August for a very long time now. So much going on this month! Tomorrow starts the month off perfectly. I've been waiting very impatiently for a handsome man to make his way back home. Finally, I get to see him tomorrow morning and I'm beyond excited. :)

The month continues on with more awesome events. Next Friday I will be attending the Jason Aldean concert with that handsome guy. I decided to be awesome and buy him tickets for his birthday. I absolutely love Jason Aldean and he always puts on a good show. Then the next day I get to go and enjoy the celebration of two people becoming one! Wedding bells are in the air!!! Just not for this girl. I'm happy I get to attend the wedding for one of my coworkers!!

Who would not be excited about seeing a band from your childhood touring again... That's right Backstreet's Back Baby!!! My lovely ladies and I will be going to see the Backstreet Boys, Jesse McCartney, and DJ Pauly D. Not going to lie, I'm most excited for Jesse McCartney...Beautiful Soul was my jam back in the day. I use to sing the crap out of that song on SingStar for PS2! No one could beat me on that song!

I'll have to make sure all my stuff is packed before going to BSB! Why? Cause it's FINALLY family vacation time. Every year since I was a little girl, my family has gone down to the Outer Banks for a week. Well, every year except last year... which was spent in Alaska. I'm so ready to return to the beach, no more cold summer vacations for this girl! I swear that the name of the cottage is on point, Almost Heaven. It literally is my own little slice of heaven. However, we will be cutting our vacation short due to my sister falling in love with the auction last weekend. The whole family is coming back so we can all go to the auction together. I know, we aren't you're typical family... but it's what we love!!

Most importantly... August means it's time for me to start school again. I'm proud to say that I am all enrolled and ready to go for the Fall semester. Feels weird being back in school, but I know it's the right thing for me. It's time for me to finish my degree and feel good about myself!

Anything happening fun for you guys this month?? I'd love to hear all your fun plans!! Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!!!

My slice of heaven

My favorite place in the world.
