First One in a While

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Sadly, this day means absolutely nothing to me... seeing as how I'm not Irish in the slightest bit. Green was also not included in my wardrobe choices today, but if someone pinches me.. I'm punching them.

Anyways, while everyone was out drinking and having a good time this weekend.. I was spending some time down at the beach house. Rentals are starting to get booked, so it's time we get a few last minute things done to the house before the season starts. (By the way, if you want to rent it.. you can click this link. )

Every house down in the OBX has it's own individual name that the owners come up with. For us, we didn't come up with the name... our fantastic Realtor came up with it. Our beach house is named "Rowland With The Tide".  (Our last name is Rowland) While we were picking up our sign, the guys told us about a fantastic little place within walking distance to get the best burger on the beach. After looking up their menu and everything, Dad and I decided to walk on down to Art's Place for lunch. Let me tell you... Freaking Amazingness. Literally. Those guys weren't lying.. It was the best burger I've had on that beach. I stuck with a regular burger and my Dad ventured out and got a Carolina Burger. A Carolina Burger is a regular hamburger patty with chili and coleslaw on top. My Dad isn't really one for burgers... but he said he would definitely come back and have another one there. Not only does Art's Place have an amazing lunch menu, they have a fantastic breakfast menu as well. My Mom and I tried it out the following morning, since again, it was in walking distance. I got eggs scrambled with cheese, bacon, and the home fries. It was absolutely amazing. So if you are ever down in the OBX, especially at our beach house, be sure to visit Art's Place for some fabulous food.. I promise you, you won't be disappointed.

Now for a little photo dump... Enjoy!!

Virginia Comfort

It's been a long time coming, but I can officially say that our family is now the proud owner's of the "Virginia Comfort". That would be our beach house down in the Outer Banks. Every house has their own name, and I'm pretty sure that's what we've decided on. Today is finally Closing Day!

My family and I have always gone down to the Outer Banks every summer since I was a kid, without fail. We always stayed in my Great Aunt's house down at the 4.5 mile post. This year we saw that the house beside hers was for sale. That immediately sparked our interest, and we began taking a look at it and putting in an offer.  That deal fell through because the people wanted far more than we were willing to pay, seeing as how it needed a lot of work done structurally. My Mom was determined at that point that we were going to get a beach house, so we started looking up other properties online. We have had an amazing Realtor who has definitely steered us through some not so great properties, to the one we are closing on today. I couldn't be happier with the one we chose and get to call ours! It's perfect size for us with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. It has a really big screened in porch on the front of the house, where I can see us spending a many of nights out there. Above the screened in porch, we also have a sun deck... how freaking cool! I don't have too many pictures of the house yet, but I will be sure to get some next week while we are there for Thanksgiving.

Until then, here is "Virginia Comfort".

Finally got the keys!

She is no longer "Star of the Sea".
And that ugly management sign is getting taken down!

View from our Sun Deck!

View from our screened in porch!

The beach right across the street from our house!

The first of many times relaxing in the ocean down there at the new place!
Oh, and by the way, she is available to rent out! So if you need some relaxation time, or a nice get away with the family, or just some time at the beach... ask for pricing and availability! You just can't take my Thanksgiving away from me this year! :)

Back to Reality

Hey everyone, I'm finally back from vacation and back in the real world. I had an absolutely wonderful time though.  The Friday before I left, our kickball team had double header and won both games. The second game was definitely the best game of the season. Such a close game but I'm glad our team stuck together and pulled out the win! The following night, my ladies and me went to the DJ Pauly D/ Jesse McCartney/ Backstreet Boys concert. It was a fantastic time. I wasn't the biggest BSB fan growing up (NSYNC baby!) but they put on a good show. However, my favorite part of the night was Jesse McCartney. I think he was the best performance of the night.

Sunday it was off to the most perfect place in the world, the OBX. For those of you that don't know what that is, it's the Outer Banks... or more commonly known as Nags Head, NC. My family and I have been going down there for a week for the past 20 years. My Dad's Aunt has a house in Kitty Hawk on the sound side of the beach road. Luckily she has no beach houses in front of her, so it's a simple walk across the street and over the dune.  Especially since my sister and brother in law live in Northern VA, it's nice to get everyone together!

Now for a bit of a photo dump. :)

Sweet Summer Time

Hello there! I'm back again. And since I have no life, maybe I'll be able to keep up with this thing again... we shall see.

Well I think that the weather decided that we didn't need a spring season this year. I mean we went from 50's to 80's... and today it's suppose to be 93. Oh and not to mention tomorrow is suppose to be like 100! What in the world is going on!?! Luckily I work in an office with some nice AC blasting. :)

Lots to look forward to this summer!

In exactly a month Momma and me will be going to see Train and Gavin DeGraw.
And can I say how awesome my Mother is... pretty freaking awesome!

Thanks to her I'll be getting to meet Gavin DeGraw again.
I can definitely go without meeting Train again, they aren't the nicest guys.

But at least they put out some really good music!

Then in two months I'll be headed to Nags Head for a week with the family!
For once, all 5 of us will be down there together!
We didn't get to go last year since we went to Alaska so it will be nice to get back to our yearly tradition.

My little slice of heaven.
I'm finally not coaching kickball this summer, so I will have plenty of pure relaxation time. I love kickball and all but I stress out over it too much. Luckily my cousin decided he'd take it over for me. Poor boy, I don't think he knows what he's getting himself into to. I use to love coaching but after 3 years, you kind of get burnt out. So now I just get to go out there and have fun! Maybe it'll spark my love for kickball up again!

Well tonight starts a very intense next couple of weeks.
It's Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks.
As well as it is Game 3 of the Calder Cup Finals between the Grand Rapids Griffins and
the Syracuse Crunch.
I'm pulling for Chicago and Grand Rapids.
I'll be glued to my tv and my laptop tonight watching both games!
Saddening that hockey season is coming to a close though.

Well time to actually try and get some work done!
